Coal Miner Killed in Greenbrier County

A WV Coal Miner was killed yesterday at a Massey Energy coal mine in Greenbrier County. According to the Charleston Gazette, the miner worked at White Buck Coal Company’s Pocahontas Mine near Leivasy.

This death represents the 32nd West Virginia Coal Miner killed this year. 31 of these miners have worked for Massey Energy. Clearly, there are still substantial issues in the mines where our hard working WV Coal Miners work.

WV Establishes 24 Hour Mine and Industrial Tip Line

Governor Manchin announced this past Friday the establishment of a Mine and Industrial Safety Tip Line. The purpose of the line is to allow workers to report any issues at mines or industrial employers without any fear of redress from the employer. The number for the line is 866-808-0875. The line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
